Glassy, Fern- Agra
2016-2019
Designed by architect Subharthi Guha, the rooftop Glassy agra is a seamless space with spans over 11 meters in one beam and over 30 meters in depth, that give a sense of weightlessness. A space where structure expresses itself boldly to enhance its beauty. This large hyperbolic double curvature covering hovers above stick mullions that stand between transparent glazing panels filled with natural light. The solid and transparent enclosure departs from contemporary space that traditionally constitute walls and roofs, standardised windows and doors, and concrete grid columns with false ceilings and beams. It focuses to enhance a dialogue between the open and the closed, the views and with a form that is a result of efficient but innovative structure.
